After 25 years of fund development experience, hundreds of thousands of successful grants and proposals, and mentoring nonprofit boards and staff members, Nancy will still tell you her most important roles is that of a mother.
Daughters Sadie and Emmie have strong connections to philanthropy. Although Sadie
works in marketing, she has spent countless hours assisting selected
charities in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and now in Austin, Texas. Emmie, who is bi-
lingual, spent a summer teaching English to children in Puriscal, Costa Rica and returned
to begin a career as a victim’s rights advocate for Hispanic women and their children in
Columbia, South Carolina.
Nancy’s husband of almost 30 years, Richard Caplan, has spent his career providing
economic development expertise to cities, counties and private entities throughout the
world.
